Have you ever needed to change a line on your website, or publish an announcement, while away from your computer? If you manage a WordPress site, you do not have to wait: there are official, free apps that let you do it from your phone or tablet.
What you can do from your phone
The WordPress app is built for writing and publishing from anywhere. With it you can:
- Publish without a computer: write and edit posts and pages wherever you are.
- Add photos and videos: upload them from your camera or gallery and place them in your content.
- Save drafts: jot the idea down and come back to it when you have time.
- Schedule: pick a day and time, and the post goes live on its own while you are away from the office.
- Organize your content: add tags and categories.
Comments and stats, instantly
There are two official apps, and it helps to know which does what. Since 2023, notifications, stats and the Reader live in the Jetpack app, which can also write and publish. With it you can:
- Reply to comments as soon as they arrive, thanks to real-time notifications.
- See how many visits your site gets and which content performs best, without opening a computer.
To keep things simple, pick one app per site: Automattic warned that using both at the same time is unsupported and may cause data conflicts.

For people who write at any moment, such as bloggers and creators. Also for professionals who keep their site current between meetings, and for businesses that need to post an update or answer a comment without waiting to get back to the office.
What it does not replace
According to users' reviews, for long texts and more in-depth work the computer is still more comfortable. Think of the app as a complement to the admin dashboard: ideal for what is short and urgent.
